about

This track is a collaboration of the Berlin based artists Schlindwein and Schwarz. The lyrics are picturing the sometimes contradictory relationship between one's own needs and society's expectations in a downward spiral from which the only way out seems to be the way in. This resulted in an atmospheric, moody song which is vulnerable and explosive at the same time. This track sounds like a marriage between Jon Hopkins and A-HA.

Schlindwein about this collaboration:
‚I met Schwarz at a very small Music Event in Berlin and we immediately started to talk about music and the industry. I didn’t know his music before but was very surprised how that was even possible when I first heard his songs. A few weeks later I asked him if he would like to sing on one of my demos and the result is „Black Hole“. It is an empowering, yet melancholic song about tension and release, full of emotions that piled up in us during the year 2020….‘

Schwarz about this collaboration:
‚Cinematically, yet without the often worn-out romantic gesture of a string section, Schlindweins Instrumental inspired me towards a bigger but abstract picture: The black hole as a metaphor for the dark energy that the tendency towards perfection can develop when we are caught in a vortex of external expectations and self-reflection.‘

Schlindwein is an up-and-coming Berlin based pianist, composer and producer. His music has been used on USA hit TV series 'How To Get Away With Murder', and has been occupying some of the biggest editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music regularly.

His debut LP 'Piano and Electronic Ensemble Op.1' reached over 1.5 Million streams and received critical acclaim from electronic veteran artists like Robot Koch and Emika.

Roland Meyer de Voltaire started his career in the 00s with his indie band Voltaire, releasing Albums through Universal Music and PIAS. With SCHWARZ he is now following his own idea of pop music. Over the last years he has worked with a diverse range of bigger artists (Schiller, Megaloh, Enno Bunger) and established himself as a film music composer.

The long term documentary, "Wie ein Fremder", for which director Aljoscha Pause accompanied Meyer de Voltaire for 6 years, shows the transition from Voltaire to SCHWARZ. Praised by critics („A mercilessly honest account of a musician's life“, Rolling Stone) it was broadcasted this April on a saturday on prime time on german television. This resulted in all SCHWARZ records being sold out over night. The show is featured on Netflix aswell.

The music of SCHWARZ has been distributed by Universal Germany, Swizz, Austria and France, has been played on big rotations in Germany, France and Italy, and reached over 14 Million streams worldwide.
